Dictum has become my go-to place for shopping woodworking tools and I mostly only have good experiences. My last purchase was a Dictum #4 plane with the Japanese blade. Unfortunately, the levercap had come loose during transport, so the plane has been able to move around, and had a big chip in it and requires a lot of extra work to fix. That's really a shame, particularly because the shipment was otherwise really well packaged.

I was interested to read about some of the surface finishing and tool sharpening techniques in the little primer booklets that you enclosed with the violin adjuster sets. I am unlikely to attempt the more sophisticated finishing techniques myself, but it is good to know about them and to know from where the materials can be obtained.

I appreciate the Herdim line of special tools that I have been using for a long time. They have superior quality and durability. Following the advice of expert violin makers and restorers is very important in my opinion, in order to have a catalogue that really suits the needs of our business. I love your huge variety of hand tools, your prices and your service. I couldn't get most of the things I buy from you any other place. I also dream of building instruments, in particular violins, and I don't know where else to buy the tools and templates, especially not at so favourable prices.

Dictum is a Great Company, Very high quality tools, I would recomend them to anyone. I used Dictum to stock most of my home workshop and bought some great books from them, I will definitely buy again. Top class product and top class service. If I lived in Germany I would attend their workshops.

Excellent products but delivery should be better. DHL freight is not good for me as it is turned over to Postnord who sends the package to another town, not Stockholm, where I live and demands a ransom to get it sent to their service center 100m from me. Dictum could have no knowledge of this, but if you had DHL Express I could get it delivered to my home without going through Postnord.

Great delivery but the tool roll could be better. One tie in the middle is not enough as the ends flap open. Also the pockets don't really hold the wood carving tools securely. I do have tip guards. I have seen two similar 6 and 12 capacity DELUXE versions which correct the issues I have with this one. However, neither is in stock now. When the large on is in stock I will buy it

Great beginners Japanese kanna. It has a steep learning curve compared to western planes, but hope to master it soon. Looks and feels great. The delivery went extremely well despite going through Postnord which is often a problem for me when the dump my packages at a service point.

I've only had good experiences shopping tools and more on Dictum! They are one of the very few sites here in Europe where I can get many of the things I need. Their prices but especially the width of their selection is what brings me back time after time. Pictures are just a few of the excellent things I've bought from Dictum.

Excellent design which is a great improvement over the normal leather tool roll. I was worried about strap length based on the Deluxe 6, but the Deluxe 12 has great straps.

Outstanding quality Pfeil wood carving tools and various bench accessories including a Verital carver's vise. Good delivery to a nearby service point despite Postnord.se being the worst home delivery carrier in Sweden.

Great tools at a reasonable price but the delivery was not as expected. It was sent by DHL but ended up in the terrible Postnord.se system which failed to deliver and lied about trying. In the end I had to pay ransom to Postnord to receive the package at a nearby service point. I have yet to collect it, but will soon.

Everything is perfect. I am only missing a bit more of Polyester Threads for leather. The only serious problem is that I don't have the money to buy all of your tools.

Everything was as expected, very well packed and on time. Highly recomended shop!

Maybe one star is too harsh because I really really like the tools. They are 1st rate. What I'm reviewing here is my experience with the payment and delivery. I bought some tools recently and went through the ordering process and payment which was more complicated than it has to be, but nothing too annoying. Then after a little while I got an email from Dictum in German (which I then had to translate) that said that my purchase wasn't completed (even though the amount was reserved on my bank account). I then went through the whole process of finding and ordering the tools again with the same result. I asked their ai assistant what to do, it told me that my money would be unreserved in a few days. I thought I could rely on that and then submitted a complaint describing all of this. Then I went on to try and find the tools elsewhere. It was lucky I didn't because a few days later the money was withdrawn from my account and the tools were shipped. So a happy ending but an infuriating, almost Kafkaesque process. The worst part of it is that I had a similar experience the previous time I ordered.
