I experienced some trouble choosing seats on the leg of my trip operated by another carrier (Delta). First it let me choose seats from the seatmap. But then I got error messages, and the portal wouldn't let me go any further. When the error cleared it did not have the chosen seats I had tried to pick for that leg. So I reached out to AF customer service, who were very nice and prompt and helpful. They confirmed this was because it was operated by another carrier and I should reach out to CS of that carrier, which I thought made sense and I was happy to do. I engaged w Delta's CS, who were just as nice and prompt and helpful as AF's. The rep offered to stay on with me while I finished the booking, at which point I could pass her the ticket #s and flight details and she would help me choose the seats. After all that, when the booking confirmation came up on the screen it did have the original seat #s I had tried to select in the first place and the Delta rep confirmed those seat selections did go through to Delta. It just took a long time and was confusing. I think it's fine either way, to be able to choose the seats or not be able to and give the details to a rep at the other carrier, but it caused a lot of confusion for me and used a lot of time getting the erroneous error message and after all that it took the seat selection anyways.

Living in the USA, I am not a regular Air France/KLM customer, so I cannot comment on the website or the airlines from the perspective of a cash customer. However, as a hobby, I arrange travel and manage frequent flier accounts for 25+ friends and family. Consequently, I have far more knowledge of frequent flier programs than most people. As far as FlyingBlue is concerned, it is difficult to find something nice to say. 1) I do appreciate that transfers from Chase to FlyingBlue are instantaneous. (That is, when they are working at all.) It is frustrating that some other airlines still take a couple days to process an online transfer, and award seats may disappear before the points are available. 2) When attempting to transfer points to FlyingBlue from Chase, I got an error message, something along the lines of "This transaction requires special handling, please call...." I tried on my wife's account, and got the same message. So, I set up yet another account in my daughter's name, and the transaction went through without a problem. I googled the error message, and apparently this has been a regular occurrence with FlyingBlue for at least a few years. Some folks report that it was due to slightly different name spellings between their Chase and FB accounts, but that is not the case for me, and we have transferred points before. I do not know if the glitch is with Chase or FlyingBlue, but since you have chosen to be partners, you should correct this longstanding bug. 3) Why is it necessary to select a specific airline to perform an award search? I have just one FlyingBlue account, and, as far as I can tell, the search results are the same whether I choose the KLM link or the Air France link. (I have not tried a search on Transavia.) 4) When performing an award search, a 6-day calendar of results will appear, but the miles indicated on the calendar do not reflect the actual miles required. You must click on each day individually to see the actual results. 5) The mileage requirements for award tickets are completely out of whack. You might find one itinerary from Europe to North America in economy for 15,000 miles, which is a great price, even with the fees considered. However, the other itineraries, which are nearly identical, will be priced at 275,000 miles. WTF? I find it hard to believe that anybody would look at the results page and choose the 275,000 option, when the 15,000 option is readily available. It seems clear that you do not want to offer award tickets on certain flights. If that is the case, then you should simply not show those flights, which will clear up the clutter on the results screen. 6) Award pricing for premium cabins is simply absurd, often 600-700K for a one-way ticket in business class. Who would blow that amount of points on a single one-way ticket? As with most people, the bulk of my points are from credit cards, and I can transfer those points to multiple airlines. Why would I transfer 700K Chase points to FlyingBlue to get a single one-way ticket in business class? The same points could get me 8 tickets on United, Air Canada, Singapore, Iberia, British, Turkish, etc.? Better still, some of these airlines only assess fees of $6, compared to FU fees of $250+ on FlyingBlue. When planning award travel, I continue to consider all options, but FlyingBlue rarely comes out on top.

The website is very unfriendly. First, I have to change the country and language every time I open the site. I then log in to the AirFrance (or KLM) website, which requires entering my account number twice. Then I must log in a second time, using the exact same credentials, to access FlyingBlue. The interface has changed a few times, but it is difficult to navigate to the section for searching award flights. That should be at the top of the page. Instead, you need to scroll to the bottom, and then select from among 4 different airlines. FB is a single program, so why do I need to select from several airlines? As far as I can tell, the search results are identical. Once you search for a specific date, a calendar will appear across the top showing the prices for several days in either direction. However, those prices are not always accurate, so you still need to look at each date individually. Nearly every other airline shows award seats for all classes on one page. With AirFrance, you must look up each class individually. The mileage requirements for awards are often ridiculous, especially for premium cabins. You may find an economy seat for 15,000 miles, but a business class seat on the same flight is 700,000, which is simply absurd. Who would be stupid enough to drop 700,000 miles on a one-way biz ticket? At those prices, it is unlikely that even the most frequent of travelers could ever accumulate enough miles for a roundtrip business class award. If you don't want to offer awards on that flight, then you should just not show them.

Website technology in tatters. Just to give you some examples of the atrocious nature of whatever is running the website: I had to reset my password, so AF sent me an email with a temporary password which had 10 digits...Their own website requires 12 digits minimum for passwords so needless to say it didn't work! Later when I was finally booking, website glitched again right at the payment page. It generated a booking but said I needed to call to complete it. So I called but they gave me the main number when I booked it via miles so I was told I needed to call another number. Because I didn't have time at the moment to deal with all these website problems, I asked the rep how long will the booking be held so that I could return to it later? He gave me a date 2 days away, so I thought I had time. The next day when I called to complete it, they said it was was only held for a few minutes and that the booking is released now! Not only that but the phone rep was extremely unhelpful in getting the flight re-booked, charging me higher phone-prices etc. I said, I have screenshots that say I couldn't complete the booking online and that I must call to finish booking so how is it fare to charge me the higher phone prices? AF is a good airline but their website needs a complete overhaul.

I got screwed over on my miles redemption. Found a great deal from CDG to PHX for business class 50k miles x 2 tickets (100k miles) The website wouldn’t recognize my mile transfer even though I could see it in my flying blue account, and then the payment and kept giving “loss of internet” annoying errors, which was not true - so of course over the course of the HOUR it took to book these tickets your stupid algorithms DOUBLED the miles cost for the flight to 199k miles for the 2 tickets. I tried getting help through the 800 number, and the rep said she couldn’t help me and I had to talk to flying blue- she transferred me and after waiting 45 minutes to talk to flying blue I gave up. Nearly every customer service experience I have with airfrance is awful. You keep reducing the value of my loyalty, and as a US citizen, unless I fly in Europe it’s impossible to keep my status (even though my domestic partner US flights are further and more expensive than the international European flights I have to do 3x as many to get the same tier points) which sucks, because I love the Air France transcontinental flights, it’s the only airline ai would fly if I didn’t hate everything else about booking a stupid ticket or getting credit for it.

The website kept resetting, and then not having the flights that I was looking at. So then I found new flights that ended up being 30% more expensive. I tried to call him and speak to somebody which was a complete disaster. They don’t know anything and are super unhelpful! Does not seem like they want to work! I spent over five hours and 10 times more stress than I would’ve liked trying to book my tickets. Only to go back on when I finally completed and find the original tickets that I wanted there and available. I also paid $108 to reserve my pricing on tickets. I got a notification that that flight is canceled so I called to inquire about that to be informed that I will not be Receiving a refund on that $108. I really feel like this airlines is a scam and has taken advantage. If I did not have it completed, I would 100% choose another airline and I will not ever refer anyone to this airline! I spent $24,000 on five tickets and I am a Completely unhappy customer.

Terrible Flying Blue platform

Flying Blue platform was incredibly difficult to use. My spouse wanted to share some miles with me so I could book a trip in miles, but the only way to do this for free was to create a Flying Blue family account. I tried to create an account, but for some reason it continuously gave me an error. So instead, my spouse created the family account, and we found that the creator of the family account could only take miles from other members of the family and could not give miles. This makes no sense. Why does Air France have such a counterintuitive user experience for their loyalty account? Probably the worst loyalty account I've used, especially compared to American carriers like United

complicated with scarce information

I booked a ticket online that was cancelled twice after ticket was confirmed. called but impossible to get a response. The whatsApp service was the least stressful but they have to rely on assistance from an Agent when they need more information. Up to now I was not given a reason for the cancellation until someone went to the Martinique airport to book and the airline insist I needed to purchase a two way ticket even if I had my return ticket via another route. Air France is too complicated and stressful. it is all about the business at the expense of the customer

Sorry, the experience was great but Air France did not take care of me when I tried to use 200,000 miles and lost them all. I could not use them to purchase gift on your site because of some type of login issues and Air France was so slow to answer my emails (and that is only when they were answering)… till I could not use my mikes anymore… so no I am not happy with Air France and even tried to avoid using them this time but will whenever I can. Good day

Frustrating, difficult process

The website crashed numerous times, making it very difficult to use. I would select all my options (eg, bags, seats, upgrades) get all the way to the end and the pricing would not match and the items I bought reflected in one place but nit the other. When I called the help number, the operator could not speak passable English- ultimately she told me I would just have to start over again

The website is impossible to navigate. I had to call the reservation line repeatedly to secure a booking. I bought a Senior Pass and have not been able to use it. The live representative can't help me and the website does not allow me to put my Senior Pass number in.

Ticket price and tax information fraudulent

Ticket price and tax information absolutely confusing!! The ticket I purchased online shows$139 for tax and fees. But the confirmation mail I received says $689 for tax. I feel like you are randomly adding up just because you can.

I bought a ticket with miles to my wife and when she arrived at the airport the ticket was cancelled for no reason and my wife lost her flight. Staff at the check-in didn't try to help and service was really bad.
