I experienced some trouble choosing seats on the leg of my trip operated by another carrier (Delta). First it let me choose seats from the seatmap. But then I got error messages, and the portal wouldn't let me go any further. When the error cleared it did not have the chosen seats I had tried to pick for that leg. So I reached out to AF customer service, who were very nice and prompt and helpful. They confirmed this was because it was operated by another carrier and I should reach out to CS of that carrier, which I thought made sense and I was happy to do. I engaged w Delta's CS, who were just as nice and prompt and helpful as AF's. The rep offered to stay on with me while I finished the booking, at which point I could pass her the ticket #s and flight details and she would help me choose the seats. After all that, when the booking confirmation came up on the screen it did have the original seat #s I had tried to select in the first place and the Delta rep confirmed those seat selections did go through to Delta. It just took a long time and was confusing. I think it's fine either way, to be able to choose the seats or not be able to and give the details to a rep at the other carrier, but it caused a lot of confusion for me and used a lot of time getting the erroneous error message and after all that it took the seat selection anyways.
Living in the USA, I am not a regular Air France/KLM customer, so I cannot comment on the website or the airlines from the perspective of a cash customer. However, as a hobby, I arrange travel and manage frequent flier accounts for 25+ friends and family. Consequently, I have far more knowledge of frequent flier programs than most people. As far as FlyingBlue is concerned, it is difficult to find something nice to say.
1) I do appreciate that transfers from Chase to FlyingBlue are instantaneous. (That is, when they are working at all.) It is frustrating that some other airlines still take a couple days to process an online transfer, and award seats may disappear before the points are available.
2) When attempting to transfer points to FlyingBlue from Chase, I got an error message, something along the lines of "This transaction requires special handling, please call...." I tried on my wife's account, and got the same message. So, I set up yet another account in my daughter's name, and the transaction went through without a problem. I googled the error message, and apparently this has been a regular occurrence with FlyingBlue for at least a few years. Some folks report that it was due to slightly different name spellings between their Chase and FB accounts, but that is not the case for me, and we have transferred points before. I do not know if the glitch is with Chase or FlyingBlue, but since you have chosen to be partners, you should correct this longstanding bug.
3) Why is it necessary to select a specific airline to perform an award search? I have just one FlyingBlue account, and, as far as I can tell, the search results are the same whether I choose the KLM link or the Air France link. (I have not tried a search on Transavia.)
4) When performing an award search, a 6-day calendar of results will appear, but the miles indicated on the calendar do not reflect the actual miles required. You must click on each day individually to see the actual results.
5) The mileage requirements for award tickets are completely out of whack. You might find one itinerary from Europe to North America in economy for 15,000 miles, which is a great price, even with the fees considered. However, the other itineraries, which are nearly identical, will be priced at 275,000 miles. WTF? I find it hard to believe that anybody would look at the results page and choose the 275,000 option, when the 15,000 option is readily available. It seems clear that you do not want to offer award tickets on certain flights. If that is the case, then you should simply not show those flights, which will clear up the clutter on the results screen.
6) Award pricing for premium cabins is simply absurd, often 600-700K for a one-way ticket in business class. Who would blow that amount of points on a single one-way ticket? As with most people, the bulk of my points are from credit cards, and I can transfer those points to multiple airlines. Why would I transfer 700K Chase points to FlyingBlue to get a single one-way ticket in business class? The same points could get me 8 tickets on United, Air Canada, Singapore, Iberia, British, Turkish, etc.? Better still, some of these airlines only assess fees of $6, compared to FU fees of $250+ on FlyingBlue.
When planning award travel, I continue to consider all options, but FlyingBlue rarely comes out on top.

AF used to be all about service, now it is about making as much money as possible selling the options like any low cost airline !
Honestly, your prices are not decently advertised : I booked for Paris May 22 ( in one month !! ) and it says starting $498 : when I then go to select, apart from 1 flight at 7am in the morning ( 😕) all your flights are at $872 and on top of this, it is “light” meaning that if you want to bring one piece of luggage, you have to add $100 ( really ?? ) more : This is price gouging and really not acceptable. We are not even in July / August. A flight to Paris in May should not cost more than $500.
Back and Forth, it cannot be more than $1000, which is already a top premium price for a simple cross atlantic flight.
And this is just flying coach and you have to add a cost for your seat on top if you do not want to end in the middle of a row.
AF should not do price gouging.
On top of that, being a Flying Blue Member does not even bring any advantages any more. when you are Silver, you cannot even access the lounge any more. This used to be the case.
AF was all about service, now it is all about making as much money as possible like any low cost airline.

On the website, I couldn't find out seat availability right away but had to wait until many other things were completed in order to find out. And when I would find out that a seat wasn't available, I had to start all over. Very very very time-consuming. I almost gave up! Most other airline websites I go to have the seat availability on the window one chooses--see American Airlines site, for example. It saves a lot of time and isn't frustrating! Please make that little change for future viewings.

Easy booking, love Flying Blue family feature
Booking was easy, partner seat selection was simple when traveling with younger children, and I LOVE being able to use the FlyingBlue family feature. One thing that could have been improved is providing the partner airline confirmation/record locator on the confirmation e-mail, but the partner airline was easily able to locate my reservation using the AirFrance code.

The user experience booking a ticket is quite intuitive. For some reason, when comparing prices of flights over the neighboring days, the prices don't always show up in the day boxes, which forces you to look at each day individually. I am using Safari and I haven't been able to understand when these prices show up or don't. Apart from that, very intuitive journey

Frustrated
We found the flight times that matched our schedule perfectly. We tried to purchase them, but an “error occurred, please try again” message popped up.
We immediately tried again, but the cost increased by $2,500!!!!! That is VERY disappointing.
We purchased them anyway, because the schedule matched perfectly for our needs for our future trip.

I like and appreciate everything about AF...its website, excellent value for use of award miles ( less than half compared to British Airways...I wish I could transfer BA miles to AF ), no cost seat selection when reservation is first made...with BA you have to pay ), wonderful service...on and off the plane, BA surprisingly has better food .

Free stopover
Great award search engine to see monthly availability. Works great between major hubs but if you want to add a smaller airport as a origin or destination it doesn't work well.
There is a free stopover option for awards travel but it must be booked over the phone. When I called wasn't sure what the agent was telling me so I just gave up.

I don't understand how i can book a ticket then have a technical glitch take my money and points and not issue the ticket but issue a reservation number. If I hadn't followed up on my own I would have assumed I had a ticket when in fact I did not. Fortunately, the problem has been resolved but it took five days and three departments

Passable experience.
Seat selection and Lunch and diner option selection is painful, the system threw 15+errors at me when trying to select seats and diner options.
Altogether, It took longer for me to purchase 3 planes tickets than it took my coworker to purchase a Tesla online including the financing options. This is ridiculous.

Two Annoying Issues
1- The Peruvian AF website offers only Spanish language. English should be a standard option for site language;
2- The booking/reservation server was painfully slow. Seating choices were (apparently) ultimately done even though the webpage stated that there are technical problems after hitting the OK button.

My frequent Flights have been on time and service is friendly and welcoming.
Food can always be improved as can cleanliness of bathrooms and seat areas.
Luggage retrieval at CDG needs to be faster.
I have flown AF for the last 40 years, with a minimum of 2 rountrips per year and as many as 5-6.

I was unable to use any of my three credit cards to book my reservation. I needed to call the credit card companies to obtain a third party verification??? This was very frustrating and I was looking at other airlines when I could not book. So my suggestion is to improve your payment ease

It wasn’t the site’s fault, but I had found an attractive promotional fare that disappeared before I could complete the purchase, only to reappear an hour later
As for the site, it’s easy to use, but it doublechecks a lot of entries, such as seat selection, which makes it slow.

Planning a multi-city trip
We are planning a multi-city trip. It was relatively easy to find the different available flights for the times and locations we needed.
It was not very easy to go back and forth between seat service level for the different legs of the trip, to check possible pricing options.

Misinformed and uncaring
Good: Short hold and quick response time.
Bad: Agent gave me wrong info about bonus miles transfers and promotion program, saying to call Chase. When I called back the next agent quickly rejected my request without empathy and didn’t apologize for the prior misdirection.

Love Air France, but it was somewhat difficult using the web site to cancel the "flex" flight that the one you are asking about replaces. Still don't know if the refund will come through ok, since confirming emails only arrived for two of the three cancelled tickets.

I appreciated that what was included with the ticket was clearly stated. I was also pleasantly surprised to see that Business Class offered quite a bit of space, even though it's a shorter flight. Looking forward to experiencing everything offered.

Website was challenging to use to find promo fares. They appeared and disappeared during multiple attempts to coordinate two travelers starting in different cities and then joining on the nonstop to Paris. No button for flexible departure dates.
