I experienced some trouble choosing seats on the leg of my trip operated by another carrier (Delta). First it let me choose seats from the seatmap. But then I got error messages, and the portal wouldn't let me go any further. When the error cleared it did not have the chosen seats I had tried to pick for that leg. So I reached out to AF customer service, who were very nice and prompt and helpful. They confirmed this was because it was operated by another carrier and I should reach out to CS of that carrier, which I thought made sense and I was happy to do. I engaged w Delta's CS, who were just as nice and prompt and helpful as AF's. The rep offered to stay on with me while I finished the booking, at which point I could pass her the ticket #s and flight details and she would help me choose the seats. After all that, when the booking confirmation came up on the screen it did have the original seat #s I had tried to select in the first place and the Delta rep confirmed those seat selections did go through to Delta. It just took a long time and was confusing. I think it's fine either way, to be able to choose the seats or not be able to and give the details to a rep at the other carrier, but it caused a lot of confusion for me and used a lot of time getting the erroneous error message and after all that it took the seat selection anyways.

Living in the USA, I am not a regular Air France/KLM customer, so I cannot comment on the website or the airlines from the perspective of a cash customer. However, as a hobby, I arrange travel and manage frequent flier accounts for 25+ friends and family. Consequently, I have far more knowledge of frequent flier programs than most people. As far as FlyingBlue is concerned, it is difficult to find something nice to say. 1) I do appreciate that transfers from Chase to FlyingBlue are instantaneous. (That is, when they are working at all.) It is frustrating that some other airlines still take a couple days to process an online transfer, and award seats may disappear before the points are available. 2) When attempting to transfer points to FlyingBlue from Chase, I got an error message, something along the lines of "This transaction requires special handling, please call...." I tried on my wife's account, and got the same message. So, I set up yet another account in my daughter's name, and the transaction went through without a problem. I googled the error message, and apparently this has been a regular occurrence with FlyingBlue for at least a few years. Some folks report that it was due to slightly different name spellings between their Chase and FB accounts, but that is not the case for me, and we have transferred points before. I do not know if the glitch is with Chase or FlyingBlue, but since you have chosen to be partners, you should correct this longstanding bug. 3) Why is it necessary to select a specific airline to perform an award search? I have just one FlyingBlue account, and, as far as I can tell, the search results are the same whether I choose the KLM link or the Air France link. (I have not tried a search on Transavia.) 4) When performing an award search, a 6-day calendar of results will appear, but the miles indicated on the calendar do not reflect the actual miles required. You must click on each day individually to see the actual results. 5) The mileage requirements for award tickets are completely out of whack. You might find one itinerary from Europe to North America in economy for 15,000 miles, which is a great price, even with the fees considered. However, the other itineraries, which are nearly identical, will be priced at 275,000 miles. WTF? I find it hard to believe that anybody would look at the results page and choose the 275,000 option, when the 15,000 option is readily available. It seems clear that you do not want to offer award tickets on certain flights. If that is the case, then you should simply not show those flights, which will clear up the clutter on the results screen. 6) Award pricing for premium cabins is simply absurd, often 600-700K for a one-way ticket in business class. Who would blow that amount of points on a single one-way ticket? As with most people, the bulk of my points are from credit cards, and I can transfer those points to multiple airlines. Why would I transfer 700K Chase points to FlyingBlue to get a single one-way ticket in business class? The same points could get me 8 tickets on United, Air Canada, Singapore, Iberia, British, Turkish, etc.? Better still, some of these airlines only assess fees of $6, compared to FU fees of $250+ on FlyingBlue. When planning award travel, I continue to consider all options, but FlyingBlue rarely comes out on top.

I wanted to reschedule my flight and had purchased Main Cabin seats which were advertised as rebookable without fees, and easily through the web interface. On top of that, one of my flights changed departure times and said I would be able to rebook with ease. When I then looked to rebook, the web interface just said "please contact us" and I ended up in a 2+ hour chat (not an exaggeration) with Delta representatives where—after they only offered one option that cost more than the entire trip had in the first place—I had to completely figure out each leg of my flight on the website, wait forever for the chatter to respond, and then a la carte rebook one leg of my journey on my own. Not as advertised!

Booking on airfrance is a messy process, so get ready for a bucket load of pain. First when booking using points, the cost of a flight shown on the screen maybe inaccurate than what it takes to make the booking (in my case it was 10%). This you can only find out after your booking attempt fails with a generic " something went wrong" message forcing you to call customer care line. Next obstacle waiting would be the dynamic pricing. You go through the above process ready to make the booking and the cost of flight goes up by 5x points. So now you just question the trip and hope the points would eventually return to a sane level, which they could the next day.

The site did not work with my browser, Safari (a version from 2020). When I checked on flights, there was no problem. But then when I wanted to buy, I logged in to be able to take advantage of my account, etc.. After looging in, I conducted a flight search, and got a message "no flights available". See attached photo. I then swtiched to a current Firefox browser and the same thing occurred. Then I switched to Chrome, and it worked. I have had this problem for about 5 months, and have been meaning to write to AF about it. Have forgotten to do so until now.

Refund for extra option

Dear Air France, Thank you for your patience, Due to a misunderstanding, I paid for unnecessary extra options for additional baggage flights 22 Sep and 30 September, 2023 (FRA-CDG-FRA). I would like to refund my additional baggage payment which I can not claim through your AIRFRANCE Refunds Processing System due to Mongolia does not appear in the Country/Region of refund payment section. I attempted several times to book flights to and from LAX to CDG, on the Air France app. The app rejected my credit cardS, multiple times. There is absolutely nothing wrong with my credit cards. It all has to do with the AF app. I called customer service to see if I could finish my booking. The agent took a very long time trying to help me, and finally put me on hold for 15 minutes. I couldn't wait anymore and I hung up. This is frustrating, on all levels, and I cannot recommend AF to anyone.

Allow seat selection for long haul flights- 10-25 hours Allow special menu - make it available Tell us what to expect during 2 hour international layover - do we have to go to get bags, and go through security again? What is the distance we have to walk from arrival to departure and how much time is taken to clear security and check in? Do you facilitate passengers with short connections? These add a lot to passenger stress - giving this info and having a gate agent to help is important

Your app is extremely difficult to use. When trying to book tickets, the price was greater for buying multiple (for my family) than for repeatedly buying single tickets (in other words, we had to buy ticket 1, ticket 2 separately, etc., rather than simply buying 3 tickets in one transaction. The website, during the purchase process, TRANSPARENTLY CHANGED the already selected response date at the end of the purchase process, so we had to call air france to remedy the error.

Payment section difficult to use. I had to go to my profile to enter a new credit card. That was the only way I could use the credit card I wanted to use. Then I could not go back to the payment page and had to start over with a new reservation etc... Your payment page is very confusing . It shows all methods of payment. You don't need to show that page. Let the user click on the method he wants and let him enter the credit card number, expiration date etc..

ONLINE SEAT SELECTION PROBLEM

As a Gold member of the SkyTeam alliance I am supposed to be able to select my seats when checking in and everytime I do so the information is not updated in the system and i end up with the wrong seat assignment This is now the second time in a row that this is happeneing and I had to travel in a middle seat on an international flight overnight due to this issue This cannot happen and you must be able to deal with this issue always with seat selection

Phone service non-existent

I couldn't reach anyone on the phone for the original reservation. My flight was cancelled 2 days after making the reservation. I got a message that I couldn't reschedule online and needed to call. When I called I was told I would get a text to a direct line. I tried several attempts and never received the text so I requested a refund online and made a new reservation online. Now I'm worried that the new one could be cancelled as well.

The web interface. I could not book the flight directly on the AF website. Had to go on Kayak and be redirected to the AF site. When you finally get to the personal info section it will not pre-populate. See my name in the drop-down but cannot select it. The highlighted red only shows for a second and then you are back to where you started. Something is very wrong. If it’s on my side I would appreciate some support.

We get charged $280 for an extra 1 bag without any explanation…the agent was unrepeatable when we are charge that high…couple days ago we requested to change date for our trip they to charge us $200 for 1 hour after booking the ticket… we requested the refund they told to wait for 4 to 6 weeks to get your money back… that sounds like a punishment for canceling…this isn’t the air France I’m used to…

AF mobile app does not fetch reserved bookings automatically

After you have completed a booking, when you launch the AF mobile app, the new booking does not automatically show-up in the app. It's VERY annoying. You have to be finding the booking number, search for it, add it. When you travel, and you may not have access to the booking number readily, it's VERY frustrating. I was at home this time around, but the AF mobile app really fails on this one.

The whole website shut down on me at night time second day call the customer service no answer I went back to the same website I bought it for $5900. I spent 30 minutes on the phone with Air France. Got am an answer that was the opposite of the website. Pressed for more details, they were like yeah I dunno. And I was told to call the same number and reroute to flying blue. I spent an hour on hold with flying blue. Never connected. Spent two more calls an hour each trying to connect with flying blue, never connected.

The online website is impossible to use. It never sends me my login code and I know my password, yet it does not allow me to proceed because the "captcha" is incorrect -- there is no "captcha" on the page. It is such nonsense to access to my account in order to book my trip. I like the airline and the flight experience, strongly dislike their online experience.

Appearances, not functionality

it doesn't retain the country/area for the website. Priority is clearly on imagery and not functionality. Very large font for some things, others like to change seats is very small, or not clear how to reach. No way to go back to see if Known Traveler number is in correctly after initial checkin. Forced to pick seats next to each other during checkin.

Major website bugs

The website has long-standing severe bugs that are well described on the internet. When trying to find flights, it doesn't take long for the site to report that there are no flights available on any day, requiring cookies to be deleted and the process to restart. I had to do that three times to complete this booking. The app does not have this issue.

the air line is wonderful and the the people very good but to buy a ticket on the internet is often a nightmare.and very confusing to know if the money has gone through with all the bank security complications that they now insist on. The least you could do would be to say whether the payment had gone through and allow another try.

Get your act together with sending SMS verification codes

Apparently the US site of Air France has been utterly unable to navigate some new regulation concerning the use of verification codes sent via SMS so that users may sign in to their accounts. Since the site also experienced difficulties in sending these codes via e-mail, just signing in proved to be an excruciating experience.
