I bought a DEFENDER Mk2 Gentleman Shirt® and OTS (Outdoor Tactical Shorts) 8.5 "® shorts
My use is as clothing for trekking and hiking in the woods.
First of all, I must say that the use of the materials is perfect, they are very light and perfect for summer use, and in the case of the shirt it can be used all year round, for example under a gilet or fleece.
The styling seems very good to me, the pockets of the shorts are very functional, I dare say even better than some competing American brands, the shirt has a good positioning of pockets, perhaps I would have added an internal pocket at the bottom, to hide a passport when the shirt is tucked into the pants, useful when traveling and also for some cash.
The fits are consistent with the measure in my opinion however they are too slim: tactical or hiking clothes need greater comfort, the shorts are too high-waisted and this can penalize those who have a little belly, so they will be forced to buy a plus size, but the leg size will be too wide and you will get a slightly disproportionate look.
The ideal would be to keep more width on the waist so that it is not necessary to go up in size, it can be done with an extendable waist study as others do, just elastic and velcro are not enough.
ditto for the shirt: not everyone has the body of the models that can be seen in the videos on the site, unfortunately, many men, especially at a certain age have a little belly, not due to obesity, but also only, at times, from a certain physical shape.
The shirt maybe has a too narrow waist, and since it is very long, if worn outdoors, it becomes a bit disproportionate: not all are 190 cm tall.
Personally, I wear it inside my pants and I feel good but I feel that if I had an extra centimeter on the waist, it would be perfect, I don't like shirts worn outside during excursions, but from a tactical point of view many operators have to take it outside, because it covers the holster: if the shirt is too long and too tight there is the risk of highlighting, rather than "camouflaging".
So maybe a "straight" fit will be more perfect than a slim fit.
In short, since it is impossible to study a fit that suits everyone, perhaps the pattern maker dept. he should emphasize less the fit test on "perfect" bodies, such as military and operators who are always very fit, and imagine a more varied audience, which certainly does not have a perfect body.
In any case, Helikon Tex is a brand to which the utmost trust must be given from the point of view of the research of materials, design, and performance, I am very satisfied, and I will certainly try other products as well.
