Great, super-lightweight music instrument stands that are LIFE-changing for those of us who have to travel with heavy instruments! These are well-made, ingenious innovations that because they are constructed with modular carbon-fiber pieces, are incredibly lightweight! We purchased 4 clarinet pegs and one large bass clarinet stand. I've had them for several years now, and will NEVER go back to the heavy, clunky, hard-to-transport stands of the past. I break down the bass stand and it fits, in pieces, inside my case!! The clarinet pegs are so much flatter than ANY other clarinet peg that it fits inside the instrument, or inside the case. Again, sturdy... even after accidentally stepping on them..they flex, maybe a leg falls off - magnetically attached - and I just pop it back on..and voila! So far, the world has not changed, but THIS is the future of instrument stands! Gijs is VERY responsive via email and answers any and all questions! He's the designer and builder, and takes these things very seriously. I highly recommend his products!

In my experience, this vendor will stiff you, should you received a defective item. Executive summary: I ordered a pricey item from this vendor. It took 5 months to arrive. It was damaged and he clearly sent it to me in that damaged condition. The vendor refuses to take any responsibility for the damaged goods that he sent out. And it turns out that he engages in other, dishonest business practices.

WoodWindDesign low A baritone saxophone stand

I have been using the WoodWindDesign low A baritone saxophone stand for the past year and a half. This turned out to have been perhaps the best accessory that I have purchased for my baritone. This stand has opened up a new practicality and ease of function in a sax stand. So light, it fits right in side the bell without virtually no added weight. It is easy to assemble and provides a very stable support for the horn. I have had various stands since first receiving my Mark VI baritone in 1964: Hamilton stand (with the bell ring 👎🏻); LaVoz, not bad, but heavy and Hercules (buoy and not comfortable to transport). The WoodWindDesign stand has been far and above any other stand I have seen or used.

The lightest-weight boom stand I’ve found. Disassembled, the stand is very compact, slightly longer than a drumstick. Highly recommended to place reflector or glow-in-the-dark nail polish at the segment ends, though, to prevent accidentally separating the segments when you only meant to adjust. When that happens, you need two hands to reassemble, which is a pain mid-set. Easily avoided with reflector tape. The rubber components are extremely temperature-sensitive, and will expand and contract dramatically. I keep a glass of ice water handy for when the stoppers expand too big to be removed/inserted into the segments. I used to keep pliers, but ice works better.

HI Rebecca, Thanks for the review and feed back. I do not understand completely what you mean with heat sensitivity of the rubber components. Could you mail me about that to look for a solution? Needng Ice water does not seem to be very convenient when using amps etc.

Replacement parts arrived promptly I needed some replacement parts due to them being misplaced and WoodWindDesign responded quickly to my request and I had the replacements within a few days and for a very fair price for shipping to another country (UK)! At all stages, the standard of service I received was great. I own a bassoon and a contrabassoon stand designed by them and both are of exceptional quality and unbelievably lightweight. I would recommend WoodWindDesign to any professional, or amateur musician both for their products and for their service. Thank you WoodWindDesign!

Great craftmanship

Products are reliable, durable and very finely crafted. I have been using a beautiful grenadilla clarinet stand for over 5 years as well as the tablet stand. Another product I'm very happy to own, is the extending carbon bass clarinet support pin. This product is capable of having the bass clarinet match my height for both sitting down and standing up so I don't have to hunch over towards the instrument and look like Quasimodo on stage. All products are extremely light weighted and compact which makes them very easy to transport. I am looking forward to more innovative designs!

I've been using a WoodWindDesign tenor sax stand for 6 years. I really love the portability and stability. My only complaint is the black color. I wish there was a white stripe or something that made each piece easier to find on a dark stage, or in a dark corner of a club where I'm packing up gear, and inevitably drop one of the legs. I also have one for my Bari, and it performs the same. Insanely portable and stable! I intend to buy a spare for my tenor, because losing mine would really frustrate me if I had to use one of my less-portable ones while waiting for a new WWD!

Fantastic solution for doublers and touring musicians

WoodWindDesign's bass clarinet stands are light and portable. I got the large model with the extension, which easily holds both my Selmer Low C and Low Eb instruments. There are a lot of pieces, so it takes a bit practice to figure out how to put the stand together and decide where to put the pieces in your case. I personally avoid putting the long rods in the bore of my instrument and keep them in an outside pocket. The stand weighs almost nothing, and is a fantastic solution for doublers to be able to carry a stand without carrying an extra heavy item.

Innovative design produces great results

I have two Woodwind design products: for bass clarinet and for soprano sax, so opposite extremes in size. Both are wonderfully light and yet stable enough for use in live performances. Both pack perfectly in the respective instrument cases. They’re not cheap but given the work put into design, selection of materials and thorough testing, they represent real value for money. They succeed in every aspect in which conventional lightweight standards fail.

High quality, light, stable and handy products for musicians. Moreover, the owner listens to feedback and really supports his clients. I have used his carbon fiber bass clarinet stand for years now, and it is so light and handy that I always take it with my bass, so that I never have to take the risk of letting it lay against a chair or a wall and accidentally fall down. It is incredible to have such a stable stand with so little weight!

Best stands I've used

I have a tablet stand, tenor and bass trombone stands, and a bass trumpet stand from WoodWindDesign. They are all fantastic! They pack down small and fit with the rest of my mutes/accessories without adding a lot of weight. They're very stable and durable. I get compliments and questions about them in every group I've played with. They also match my carbon fiber trombones very well. Can't say enough good things about these.

The bari stand is very light and comes apart enough that I can fit it inside my bari case. Its very convenient to have this bari stand with me at all times without having to think about packing it separately or about all the extra weight of other bari stands I've used. It's an excellently designed product and I look forward to using it for years to come.

Extraordinarily innovative in-instrument case design means that I can always have a bassoon and bass clarinet stand available even when I don't think that I am going to need it with no perceptible weight penalty. Modular system means that if I ever get that alto clarinet/basset horn the stand will be just as suitable for that.

Bass clarinet stand.

I have a few of the carbon fiber stands, my favorite is the bass clarinet stand, it fits perfectly into the case, so carting a bulky metal stand is a thing of the past. I can also use it on my low-C as well as my junker bass. I really don’t trust my bassoon in it but I don’t trust my bassoon on anything.

Thanks Mark. Why don't you trust the bassoon on it? Try the medium set up. I think you will find that stable. The small bassoon stand is my second best selling product (after the large bass clarinet stand) so I guess you might be too anxious about the bassoon.

I’ve been using the Woodwind Design stands saxophones, flutes, and bass clarinet for many years now, all around the world! I love them very much and am about to buy another one for my bass sax. Thank you for making such great tools for us. This has been a godsend for my touring life. Thank you.

Fantastic design - a lifesaver for contrabassoon players that need a stand for bassoon and contra plus music stand. I often say I wouldn't do as much contra playing if i didn't have all three WoodWindDesign stands. The only thing is I wish you produced a carrying bag or case to fit!

Thanks Frank. Very few people ask for a carrying bag for the stands. I only offer these for saxophone stands, to prevent rattling inside the instrument. but I don't sell a lot of these. But basically this could be an old sock or half a pair of trousers. Since WoodWindDesign is a one person operation, and I like to deal with essential innovations, a bag is not very high on my priority list.

Carbon Fiber Bass Clarinet…

I ordered a carbon fiber Bass Clarinet stand. It is an excellent stand and hold my Bass Clarinet very well. It comes apart in several places which makes transporting it in your case very easy. It also weighs less than 1 pound, so you’re not adding any additional weight to your case.

Norrbotten Big Band on carbonfiber.

As a professional fulltime touring Orchestra the stands from WWD has decreased the weight of our reed sections travelling gear a lot!! We used to have a case for all the stands with a weight of 32kg. This case is now retired and the stands travels with each instrument.

Greatest Stands ever. They cost a little more than average yes this is true. BUT... you'll never need or want new ones after. They weigh less than a stand-pouch and are more stable than the biggest stands that weigh a ton. Thanks Gijs for these great products :-)

The carbon fiber bass peg is great! It is very durable and easily extends to any length needed when you need to stand while playing. It is also extremely light, so almost no added weight when traveling with it. I highly recommend it!
