Empty gift boxes presented to client!

I took the boxes I ordered as a gift for 2 top clients. One an Ambassador in London. When she asked me to open the box to present the chocolates the box was empty! I almost died with embarrassment! I then understood that the chocolates came in a separate box and I should have moved them. But how was I supposed to know! DIdn't think of opening the box to check. Plus one does not usually open a box that one is about to gift! Very angry and embarrassed about this!

The chocolates are great. The DHL delivery was terrible - late and NOT delivered to our home!
