Our Nat statue was very well boxed in expanded foam and wrapped in bubble sheeting, circularly wound around her. But her crown was not protected from lateral movement, and so sadly, her crown dragon ears got bent in transit. The box may have been put upside down, and her weight bent her dragon's head ears. A circular protective pad on top of her head would have prevented that. Shame really because she was so well boxed. I also think that a roll of bubble wrap under and another over the arms would help protect much better.
I did get to straighten out her ears and will touch them up with gold leaf. I seek your advice on how to do that please. She is rather beautiful I must say.

But sad to hear that the fragile metal crown was bent a little... I hope that after straighten it out, it is not much visible that it was once bent...
Do you have some gold leave ? It would then be good to adjust this to the crown. Sometimes I use gold-paint also...
