My last shipment was on time and well protected. My only problem with the models lately is that they do come with a CD disc for the instructions, but our current computers do not come with a disc port, therefore I have to use my computer to download the instructions and flip from screen to screen to look ahead to make sure that I am not doing something on page whatever that might mess something up later that I was not aware of. Wish there was an option to purchase a copy of the instructions as an option at the time of ordering in place of the disc. The models and materials are excellent!

I bought the micro scrapers and micro saws. I would have gotten more small tools (prices are quite good) but I already had most of them. The micro scrapers are a unique item. I tried to think of something I could use the rigging tools for but I’m making regular miniatures not ships. I have a similar set that is shorter but is for applying minute amounts of glue in tight places. The only thing I can think of that would be a good addition is the micro scrapers in individual pieces - especially the fluted shapes - that could fit in an x-acto knife handle. Then they could be used to make flat rounded rosettes or maybe even used with a mini-lathe.

I have been an airplane and ship model builder since 1962. Now at age 82 I was browsing the web and found Artesania Latina. The ship model "open HMS Victory" looked interesting, so I ordered it. Until now, I used to pick up drawings and I produced each and every detail from wood, metal and thread. I do not have the time for that any more. The service was prompt and package arrived in good condition , couple e-mails about the tracking problem solved the same about the digital instructions. About the kit itself I’m a litlle disappointed , the tolerances for the hull spars are way to big , lose , so potential for misalignment is very high . In fact the modeler pictured in the instructions had some problems it shows in some of the pictures . For a laser cut kit I was expecting more precision . The range of accessories is very detailed , I wish you included a molding tool instead of the knife or at least recommend one so I didn’t have to put in another order . And that would be all . I've made 12 of your sailboats and the Mississippi King. I gave the first 10 to our local school district and the teachers love them! So this tug is my second one without sails. It is advanced level so the instruction were not a extensive as the others. And it is almost too detailed for me.

Instructions on DVD is a terrible idea. Who uses a DVD anymore? Pre 2021 had the small printed book plus instruction sheet. You Tube 10 videos moderately helpful.
New 2021 model uses plank on bulkhead, very difficult for novices and may make them quit early on. Pre 2021 used 1 piece sode, much better and then plank it on top using 1.0 or .05 mm.
Windows, stairs and shutters much nicer on newer models.
Instructions on DVD not in a format that allows it to transfer to a non DVD laptop. JPEGs do transfer.

The figures for HMS Surprise are well cast in metal, with a variety of sizes with the tallest being 6feet high to scale. Some of the legs look a bit on the thin side, others are of good proportions. All the figures are recognisable from the film and once painted, will bring the ship model into life.

I am on my 4 AL kit and have really enjoyed the first 3. The details and quality of materials are excellent for all 4 but with them going to a YouTube instruction model instead of printed plans on my latest kit, it's not the same. Having to replay the video numerous times to try to follow the directions takes away from enjoyment... I will really have to think hard before buying another AL kit, if they don't supply print instructions, I even told them I'd pay extra...

This will be my second San Juan Nepomuceno. The first was built for a commission about 20 years ago. Now I've finally decided to build one for myself :).
I'm a little puzzled that the manual is now on CD. Few computers with CD/DVD drives are available these days. However, I hope I won't need it.
Replacing parts 29 and 32 seems like a good idea. The rest will be revealed during the rest of the build process.
